Why Raw Data Cannot Go Directly to the Cloud

A monitoring platform without a connected work order workflow depends on humans watching a separate dashboard and acting on what they see. Usually the wrong tool when:
Predictive maintenance cannot catch failures without precursor signals. Electrical insulation breakdown from a voltage surge, catastrophic mechanical failure from an external impact, or sudden process contamination events cannot be predicted from condition monitoring data. 7. Maintenance & Longevity
Sensors drift. Mounting hardware loosens. Edge device firmware requires updates. Every component in the sensor-to-platform chain needs a maintenance schedule. Most implementations do not define one at deployment.
Sensor Maintenance Schedule
Establish a quarterly inspection protocol for sensor mounting torque, cable integrity, and edge device status. Compare each sensor’s current spectrum against its commissioning baseline annually to detect mounting degradation before it corrupts the model. When a major maintenance event occurs on a monitored asset, such as a bearing replacement or impeller change, reset the asset’s baseline in the monitoring platform.
